As a young girl growing up in England,
Margaret Hill dreamt of riding horses.
She worked at local stables, mucking stalls to earn a lesson or two. As she grew older, Margaret volunteered at a stable for rescue horses. One horse, in particular, drew her attention as he was elderly and nearly blind in his one remaining eye, the other lost in a cruel experience. While working with these horses, Margaret knew one day she wanted to care for rescue horses if & when circumstances would allow.
In 2008, Margaret's late husband Albert, who always knew her passion for horses, bought the 14-acre property that is now Four Way Farm. Immediately Margaret fulfilled her dream by accepting horses in need of tenderness and care.
Beloved Residents
Sweet Pea was a local owner surrender in August 2018. She was so severley emaciated that we were unsure if she would make it to the farm. But 3 months later she has made an amazing transformation. She is an ex-racehorse, black with brown in her tail & mane.
Zelda came from Ga. Dept Of Agriculture in March 2018. She was unable to be rehomed as she has an unknown neurological disorder that causes her to walk as if inebriated. She has a possible history of head trauma as she doesn't always allow a halter to be put on and is sensitive about her mouth being touched.
In June this year, I went & seized, with Columbia County Animal Control's authority, a skinny & I mean skinny Arab pony. But of course he didn't stay that way for long. Now he's fat & sassy. I named him Roland.
He was a starvation case but also owner had been neglecting his feet. He still had shoes on the front feet & the hooves had grown a lot. So it put a strain on him walking. He was going to be euthanized but Jessie Murray from GDA contacted me & of course I said yes. Fast forward- with Kevin's expert work he is now trotting up at feed time & sometimes canters.
Dixie is a POA from Augusta, Georgia. Her owner was unable to transfer her to another stable so I was asked if she could live here. She enjoyed her time at Four Way Farm and was adopted! We are delighted that Dixie has found her forever home.
Roger & Nutmeg were the first residents. Their owner abandoned them at a boarding stable, who in turn released them into the care of Four Way Farm.

Retired OTTB from North Carolina. Problems with his spine make him unrideable.
Retired Polo Pony from Atlanta. After sustaining an injury, Boca was retired from the game and came to Four Way Farm to relax.
Also known as TNT, this lovely chestnut mare is retired from her career as a 3rd level dressage horse.
Dearly Departed
Spice was brought here by Georgia Equine Rescue League. Her owner had been hospitalized and she could no longer care for Spice. Spice passed away in August 2018.
Rambo came here from the GA Dept of Agriculture. Like Banjo, he was unable to be be adopted out so he came here to live out the rest of his life.
On Arrival in 2010
In 2013 Nellie was a local rescue. She was found on the side of the road and very skinny. After a visit from the equine dentist, he determined that she was in her 30's with no teeth. She got very plump with watered down food. Sadly after four happy years, she passed away after a short illness.
Ginger & Sonny, both in their 30s, came from a riding stable in West Georgia. Ginger was very sick when she arrived -- Margaret and her Vet worked tirelessly to heal her. She sadly died after a few months. Sonny, however, lived for another year.

Banjo came from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. She has a health condition called sweeny. Her shoulder has dropped and she walks with a limp.
